Say hello to the updated BMW M2!

The M2 has undergone a mid-life facelift, and Mat’s about to get up close & personal with it to see if it is a better choice than competitors like the AMG A45, Audi RS3 and Porsche Cayman. So let’s get into it!

When it comes to the design, the changes to the last edition are… almost insignificant. Up front, there are redesigned matrix DRLs, and along the side, there are updated alloy wheels and black window surrounds as standard. Otherwise, nothing else has changed compared to the previous edition! But then again, that’s no bad thing. It means the front end still has wide air intakes, while at the back, the quad (and real!) tailpipes have been retained.

On the inside, the number of changes is similar to the exterior. The upholstery has been updated, and there’s a new steering wheel. Otherwise, the cabin is largely the same as before. It means there are soft-touch materials throughout, the carbon bucket seats are still great to sit in, and the digital dials and infotainment system are clear and easy to use.

Under the bonnet, the M2 still retains the same S58 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as found in the BMW M4. However, power has increased by 20hp to 480hp, and the torque has increased from 550Nm to 600Nm (unless you choose the manual gearbox, in which case it remains at 550Nm).

The new M2 rolls up with a pretty hefty price tag - £68,795! The good news is you can save almost £7,000 off one through Carwow, but are competitors from Audi, AMG or Porsche a better pick? Stick with Mat to see for yourself!
