In this video I want to talk to you about how to open your trunk when your PSE Pump fails. What is a PSE pump? I’m glad you asked. The PSE Pump controls a lot of the air pressure functions that operates your trunk, soft close on the doors, and even the door locks in your car. When this pump fails all of these things lose power. This means your trunk will not open. To compound the situation even more, if your hard key does not work then it’s impossible to open your trunk. Well not anymore!! Today I’ll show you that you can open your Mercedes Benz Trunk when your PSE Pump has failed. This video is quite long so feel free to skip around to find the part that works best for you.
When repairing your trunk latch mechanism, it’s important to find all the cracked tubes that hold the silver ball bearings. There’s a lot of these tubs and some are hidden, so look closely. When you locate all the cracked tubes glue them with JB Weld and Epoxy. I used super glue as a base layer. In this order I used Super Glue, JB Weld, and then Epoxy. I have been driving with the fixed trunk mechanism for about a month and it works great!
After installing the new or used PSE Pump you will need to program it. Find a good scan tool that offers programming. This is worth its weight in gold so buy the best one you can afford. I chose the Autel MP808. This scan tool does most programming and it will even copy over all the information from the old PSE Pump and transfer it to the new pump.
