Santosh Palavesh did mechanical engineering from Velammal College of Engineering, Chennai and in 2010 founded UMM Studios (now UMM Digital) which provides various creative services such as design, branding, ad films, corporate films, visual effects and animation, and has worked with many big names like Larsen and Toubro Ltd, Royal Bank of Scotland Plc., HCL Technologies Ltd, Royal family of Rajasthan, Mercedes Benz and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. UMM Digital also has a technology division which looks into web designing, web hosting, software solutions and now Block chain and Machine-learning. The idea of a creative services firm arose from his hobby to make short films on the handycam.

Santosh credits a part of his success to the business fundamentals he learnt as an active member of the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). “It was here that I saw young entrepreneurs talking about their ideas and experience. I was totally awestruck by it, and learnt to implement those ideas”, say Santosh on his experience with NEN. Speaking at E Week 2018, Santosh said that “NEN is an entrepreneurial garage that provides tools to crack the market”. He adds, “Do not go for the first hire unless you have learnt the tricks of the trade”. “Startup early as the sooner you fail, the sooner you learn -bigger the risk, bigger is the reward”, he adds.
