Exterior design: Status and technological competence are now even more tangible. All models are fitted with a new radiator grille. In combination with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, the S‑Class has three prominent light torches as an exclusive design feature.

Control and display concept: Under a shared glass cover, the two high-resolution displays, each with a 12.3‑i nch screen diagonal, blend together to form a Widescreen Cockpit. The new S‑Class has touch-sensitive Touch Control buttons on the new steering wheel. The operation of DISTRONIC and cruise control via controls directly on the steering wheel is another new feature. The infotainment system can be operated via the touchpad, using the controller in the centre console and by LINGUATRONIC voice control, which now obeys over 450 commands.

Driving assistance systems: Active Distance Control DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist now provide even more comfortable support for the driver when keeping a safe distance and steering. The Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, for example, thus uses substantially more map and navigation data, can support the driver based on the route, and conveniently adjusts the vehicle speed.

Lights: MULTIBEAM LED headlamps enable extremely quick and precise adjustment of the headlamps to the current traffic conditions. ULTRA RANGE Highbeam generates the maximum light intensity permitted by law.

Suspension: MAGIC BODY CONTROL with ROAD SURFACE SCAN recognises road bumps in advance and compensates them. The curve inclination function is another comfort enhancement that is available for the S‑Class for the first time.

Engine technology: A completely new range of highly efficient engines with new six-cylinder in-line diesel and petrol variants, as well as a V8 biturbo with cylinder shutoff, has its debut in the new S‑Class. At the same time, ground-breaking technologies such as the 48 volt Integrated Starter Generator and the electric booster compressor celebrate their world première.

ECO Assist: The S-Class becomes an intelligent fuel-saver by using navigation data, traffic signs and information from the driving assistance systems. The driver receives advance notifications in good time for a particularly efficient and comfortable driving style. Coasting to a stop and decelerating are energetically optimised by "gliding" with the engine off or with recuperation.

Wellness: ENERGIZING comfort control (from September 2017) networks different onboard comfort systems and allows a specific wellness setup according to the mood or needs of the customer. The extended ambience lighting creates interior lighting moods like a work of art by composing colour worlds from different colours.

Infotainment: Mobile phones can be charged as standard wirelessly and without a telephone holder. Front and rear passengers now have more text messaging options. They can now receive, send, forward and use voice-to-text to dictate text messages. With the new Concierge service, Mercedes me customers are able to use a wide range of individual services.
