At least 17 people are expected to be swept away by a flash flood along a river in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa on December 3, 2022.

The search for missing persons along the Juksei river in Alexandra, Johannesburg, South Africa, continues until 04 December 2022. According to the Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS), teams are carrying out a search and rescue operation along the Juksei River in the city's Alexandra area after 17 church members were reportedly swept away by flash floods following heavy rains in the area.

The latest data obtained on December 5, as many as 14 people died due to flash floods in the city of Johannesburg. Reporting from AFP on Monday, December 5, a total of 33 worshipers took part in the ritual at one of the churches located on the banks of the Jukskei river on Saturday, said Robert Mulaudzi, spokesman for the Emergency Management Services for the City of Johannesburg.
