This video shows how to replace the replacing the decorative foil on the window frame of the front door on Mercedes-Benz A-Class & B-Class (W169, W245).

On the A and B-Class the pressure of the B-pillar joint may be too high on the decorative foil of the B-pillar. This results in wrinkles forming at the corners!
It is caused by vehicle movements pressing the B-pillar joint against the foil while driving.
These instructions explain how to remedy the problem.
First open the window.
High temperatures in summer also encourage the formation of wrinkles!
Now pull the top of the window guide rail out of the window frame.
Then detach the outer slot seal using an assembly wedge.
The slot seal only needs to be partially removed, as shown here.
The adhesive strength of the foil should not underestimated!
Heating the foil with a hot air gun makes it easier to pull off.
Heating also makes the foil more elastic so that it does not tear so easily.
Remember the adhesive strength when applying the new foil!
If it is stuck on incorrectly, the foil is unusable.
Clean the bonding surface thoroughly with a cleaner, Terostat for example.
All adhesive residues must be removed.
The door frame must be free of grease and dust otherwise the adhesion will be impaired.
The preparations on the vehicle are now complete.
Take the foil out of the packaging.
Note: One adjustment must be made to the foil before application.
Under no circumstances should the foil be applied wet.
The cutout at the bottom of the foil must be modified.
It must fit easily around the retaining clips on the door later on.
It is best to use scissors for this.
It is not necessary to remove the retaining clips for this modification.
Before applying, check that the decorative foil is positioned correctly.
It is easiest to align it with the top right-hand corner of the door frame.
At the bottom, make sure that the door frame is flush with the edge to be folded over.
First remove the backing film from the alignment aid at the top only.
Align the foil with the door frame again.
Is the decorative foil flush with the door frame?
If so, stick down the alignment aid.
Pull off the backing film downwards and apply the foil.
Stick the decorative foil down in stages while smoothing it with a spatula.
Make sure that no air bubbles are left under the foil.
It is practically impossible to eliminate these bubbles afterwards.
Even piercing the bubbles with a needle or similar does not help.
Now remove the alignment aid. Do it carefully!
The foil can very quickly tear too far and damage the actual decorative surface.
Fold the protruding foil around the edge on both sides of the door.
Again make sure that no bubbles or wrinkles are left behind.
It is best to use the spatula again.
Always check the other side for wrinkling at the same time.
And replace the foil here too if necessary.
To prevent the problem from reoccurring, the front door must be adjusted outwards to no more than one millimeter in the y-direction relative to the rear door.
