R230 SL55 AMG was unreal back in 2003. From the looks of this one, it appears mostly stock exterior & interior with drag tire setup & suspension.

A hand-built supercharged V8, brutal performance, bulletproof transmission, luxury roadster design, and old-school AMG durability. It’s one of the greatest AMG cars ever built — simple, violent, reliable, and beautiful.

The heart of why the SL55 is legendary:

5.4-liter SOHC V8 (M113K) + Lysholm twin-screw supercharger. ~Around 493 hp and 516 lb-ft (underrated in reality — dynos show closer to ~520–540 hp). Known as one of the most reliable high-power AMG engines ever made. Takes to mods extremely well (pulley + tune = 600–650 hp easily)

The M113K is arguably AMG’s most durable and tunable V8.

The 5-speed AMG Speedshift (722.6) was a bulletproof automatic that could handle the torque better than the later 7-speed. Widely regarded as the strongest automatic AMG ever used. Smooth, predictable, and doesn’t grenade like some other high-torque transmissions

The R230 introduced Mercedes’ first power retractable hardtop on the SL.
