The 1987 500SL AMG from Japan is one of the most remarkable examples of Mercedes tuning from the 1980s. Originally ordered new in Japan and delivered to Affalterbach for a full AMG conversion, this R107 came equipped with every AMG upgrade available including the engine modification, exhaust, suspension, body kit, and interior.
Finished in Astral Silver over Wine Red leather, the car still wears its original paint and shows only 25,000 kilometers. Inside, it features a bespoke AMG interior with Recaro seats, custom door panels, and a gold engraved AMG instrument cluster displaying the first owner's name.
The M117 engine delivers power comparable to the 6.0 AMG Hammers, and a recent inspection confirmed genuine AMG internals. It is now awaiting AMG Classic certification, joining some of the rarest examples in The Patina Collective.
Imported from Japan in 2025, this car represents the peak of AMG's pre merger craftsmanship and the meticulous care Japanese collectors are known for.
Join us as we take the 500SL AMG for a drive and uncover why this understated roadster is one of the most authentic and preserved R107 AMGs ever built.
