We spent a full week behind the wheel of the 2025 Mercedes‑AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet on back-roads, highways, with the top up and down — and here’s what we found. Under the skin lies a 3.0 L inline-6, twin-charging (turbo + electric compressor) plus a 48 V mild-hybrid assist, developing 443 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque (443 lb-ft for up to 10 seconds with overboost). Pricing for the Cabriolet starts around $82,600 MSRP in the U.S. and climbs with options.

During our highway test with the soft-top up, we measured a steady ~68-69 dB inside the cabin. With the top down the character changes — less quiet but significantly more engaging. Handling felt more agile than expected for a 4,500-lb convertible but you still noticed the weight and comfort takes priority over razor sharp corner carving. Comfort and refinement held up on long drives, yet the transmission and AWD system also kept things sharp when things got twisty. Whether cruising or carving, this isn’t a “just pretty” convertible — it delivers real AMG punch and top-down fun.
