Welcome to Only Vans! I’m Trevor, lead Sprinter Tech at Mercedes-Benz in Farmington, Utah (@OnlyVansMBZ). In this video, I'm doing a quick run down of what the chassis, engine and transmission codes mean for Sprinters and how to identify.
Chassis
905 = not familiar enough yet as they don't come in very often 2006 and older
906 = 2007-2018
907 = 2019-Current

Engines
642 = 3.0L V6 Diesel (most common)
651 = 2.1L 4Cyl Diesel
654 = 2.0L 4Cyl Diesel (Newest)
274 = 2.0L 4Cyl Gas (Phased out)
780 = eSprinter Electric motor

Transmissions
722.6 = 5G-Tronic 5 speed (Found in 906 Sprinters)
722.9 = 7G-Tronic 7 speed (Found in 2019-2022, 907 sprinters )
725 = 9G-Tronic 9 speed (Found in 2019-2023 Gas and 2023-Current Diesel)

I realized after finishing the video edit I could have been more clear on the non pictured engines like the 274 Gas and 651 Diesel engines but I think I still cover the gist of it. could have included the eSprinter 780 electric motor in the video too. any questions feel free to ask in the comments section.
