2018 BMW i3s First Drive Review - New 2018 BMW i3s with additional model-specific

exterior design features: black roof line, distinctively designed front apron with

black inlay, powerfully contoured rear apron, sports suspension (lowered by10

millimetres), 40-millimetre wider track, black wheel arch borders, exclusive 20-

inch and 20-millimetre wider light-alloy wheels. BMW i3s interior with special

model lettering in the front floor mats.

New BMW i3s takes typically BMW sporty power delivery and driving dynamics to

another level: output increased by 10 kW, peak torque by 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) over the

BMW i3, top speed up by 10 km/h (6 mph) to 160 km/h (99 mph), 0 – 100 km/h (62

mph) acceleration 0.4 seconds quicker. Bespoke suspension tuning with model-

specific springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. More direct accelerator response and

tighter steering characteristics can be activated by selecting SPORT mode via the

Driving Experience Control switch.

BMW i3s (BMW i3s with range extender): BMW eDrive hybrid synchronous electric

motor, continuously variable automatic transmission, lithium-ion high-voltage

battery with 94 Ah/33 kWh.Maximum output, electric motor: 135 kW/184 hp, rated

output: 75 kW/102 hp at 4,800 rpm,
Max. torque: 270 Nm [199 lb-ft] at 0 rpm (two-cylinder range extender petrol

engine – capacity: 647cc, output: 28 kW/38 hp, max. torque: 56 Nm [41 lb-ft] at

4,500 rpm).Acceleration [0 – 100 km/h / 62 mph]: 6.9 seconds (7.7 seconds),Top

speed: 160 km/h / 99 mph.
