This 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG came in with multiple common M157 failure points, and instead of tackling everything piece by piece, we pulled the engine and handled it all at once.
Before performing any of the work, we made sure the engine was worth the investment. We removed the spark plugs, inspected the cylinders with a borescope for any scoring, and performed a compression test to verify overall engine health.
With the engine out, we addressed known issues while replacing engine mounts, coolant lines, CV axles, control arms, spark plugs, ignition coils, drive belts, all idler pulleys, thermostat, front propeller shaft, camshaft position sensors, water pump, and more.
When you have this level of overlap, doing the work with the engine in the Mercedes means stacked labor, limited access, and a higher chance of missing something. Pulling the engine allows us to do the job cleaner, faster, and more reliably.
In this video, we break down why we chose to remove the engine and how this approach actually saves time, money, and future headaches.
Preventative maintenance now means fewer breakdowns later, especially on the M157 platform.
