On a true cold start, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro’s hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 fires with a sharp bark, then settles into an elevated idle for several seconds while the catalysts light off—so you get a brief, bass-heavy rumble with a few metallic pulses before the revs drop and the note smooths out. That character comes from its M177 V8 tune, shared with the latest GT 63 but turned up a notch.

How loud it is depends on the start mode and market rules:

* In **Comfort/“quiet”** starts, the active exhaust flaps stay subdued and the idle calms quickly—handy for early-morning departures in neighborhoods. Many recent AMGs also curb start-up volume to comply with EU noise limits.

* With **AMG “Emotion Start,”** holding a shift paddle while pressing the start button briefly raises idle and opens the exhaust more, making the start noticeably louder and throatier (availability can vary by model/year and region).

If you’re in an EU-spec car with a gasoline particulate filter (OPF/GPF), the cold start will still rumble but be somewhat more muted than U.S. cars due to regs and exhaust hardware.

Net: expect a short, assertive V8 crackle, a rich few seconds of higher idle, then a clean AMG burble as it warms—rowdier with Emotion Start, gentler in Comfort/quiet starts.
