The drivetrain of the new AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is pretty complicated.
We still have AMG’s well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, but here it’s paired with an electric motor that’s mounted directly on the rear axle and a 6 kWh battery. That electric unit makes 201 horsepower on its own and is connected to a two-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential. The total output is over 800 hp.
The goal here was to give you that power of the V8, the instant torque of an electric motor, and better weight distribution. Just like with most modern AMGs, we have a 9-speed multi clutch transmission, which puts down the power via a rear-biased AWD system - 4MATIC+.
