New 585hp Mercedes-AMG GT Revealed
The SL roadster provides a lot of the brains and muscle for the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe. The big news is the new GT Coupe's standard all-wheel-drive system, which the AMG GT has never offered before. The new GT Coupe is longer, broader, and has a longer wheelbase than the previous model. Customers can choose whatever 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine they wish for their GT. There is a noticeable difference between the GT55, which generates 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, and the GT63, which generates 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Once we've tried either flavour, we'll post an update in this section. Although the new GT Coupe won't be available for purchase until later in 2024, when AMG does introduce its newest coupe, we'll be sure to take it Porsche 911 Turbo hunting and report back.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The pricing of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT has not yet been revealed, but when it was last on sale, the base model of the car had an MSRP of almost $115,000 and was more potent than the contemporary GT 55, which has 469 horsepower. The starting price of the GT 55 will most likely increase to roughly $125,000 thanks to the now standard 4Matic+ AWD system and numerous other enhancements. We anticipate the new GT 63 to cost around $175,000 because it has the same amount of power as the previous AMG GT R.
One of the 2024 AMG GT's primary competitors at these costs is the nearly unbeatable Porsche 911. Since the GT now comes with standard AWD, the Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, and 4 GTS ($121,700, 138,600, and $158,200) are sensible substitutes. The six-cylinder 911 still sets the standard for handling performance despite having less power in general. The GT's more eye-catching appearance, V8 engine sound, and the luxury promised by the brand are, however, also some of its prominent selling factors.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The most recent six-figure coupes that came before it hammered out their power as smoothly as polished marble, including the 523-hp GT, 550-hp GT C, and the pair of 577-hp GT R and GT R Pro versions. From the new GT Coupe, which debuts with two initial degrees of quick, we wouldn't expect anything less. The Mercedes twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 and new nine-speed automatic transmission are used in both the GT53 and GT63. The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe GT63 has 577 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque, compared to the GT53's 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet.
