Liveries are an intrinsic part of Formula 1. While offering no performance benefit, they form a core part of a team’s identity and image and are a visual representation of Formula 1’s corporate underbelly, and they can stay in the minds of Formula 1 fans, for good or for bad. Sometimes however, teams will run special liveries seen only once, be it for anniversaries, home races, promotional events, tributes, or to bring awareness for charitable causes. One-off liveries used to be quite rare, but recently the market has become somewhat oversaturated, as since 2020, we have seen more than 70 one-off liveries. Today, we’re going to cover all of them. Some are ones everyone remembers and loves, and others have been forgotten to time. First, some ground rules. I’m not including one-off liveries used in pre-season testing, otherwise this video will never end. Liveries such as North American Racing Team Ferrari, McLaren’s first Löwenbräu livery, Art Ligier, Kronenbourg Larrousse, the Pink Alpines, Future Mode McLaren, Triple Crown McLaren, Stealth McLaren, Gulf Williams, Bloated Beached Whale AlphaTauri, Playing Card Alfa Romeo, Mercado Libre Williams, Riviera McLaren, Mercado Libre Alpine, and Gemini AI McLaren also won’t be included, as they appeared in more than one race. I won’t include liveries from teams that entered only one race, because they were not intentionally one-off liveries, and I also won’t include liveries where sponsorship decals have changed but nothing else. Nor will I include minor modifications to skirt around local bans on alcohol or tobacco advertising. With that out of the way, here is every one-off livery in Formula 1 history explained.
