2026 Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE review! In this video, I'll talk about what the new AMG GT is from a technical standpoint, how I feel about the interior space, and what it's like to drive it!

The Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is a hybrid version of Mercedes' answer to the Porsche 911, the AMG GT Coupe.

On paper, it’s no joke. It makes 805 hp and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque. It also weighs 4,800 lbs so more than a… Hellcat or a Tesla Model S Plaid.

The car features ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL with semi-active roll stabilization. Instead of using traditional stabilizer bars, it uses hydraulics that connect all four wheels.

When you’re driving straight, the system can “open up” and smooth out bumps, even if they’re only on one side of the road—so the car feels more comfortable. But when you start cornering, the hydraulics stiffen up and keep the car more flat, reducing body roll and making the steering feel more precise.

We also get a rear-axle steering - at lower speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction of the fronts, which makes the car feel more nimble and at higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the fronts, for more stability.

The drivetrain of the new AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is pretty complicated.

We still have AMG’s well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, but here it’s paired with an electric motor that’s mounted directly on the rear axle and a 6 kWh battery. That electric unit makes 201 horsepower on its own and is connected to a two-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The goal here was to give you that power of the V8, the instant torque of an electric motor, and better weight distribution. Just like with most modern AMGs, we have a 9-speed multi clutch transmission, which puts down the power via a rear-biased AWD system - 4MATIC+.

Getting this beast from 0 to 60 may take less than 3 seconds, but we also need to be able to slow down. No worries though, we have carbon ceramics on board - 6 pistons up front, single floating piston on the rear axle and I can already tell you - these are one of the most impressive brakes I’ve ever experienced.

Pricing starts at around $106,000 for the GT43 and can go well into $250,000 for the E PERFORMANCE that we’re testing today.

Other cars to consider are a Porsche 911 Turbo S, BMW M8, Dodge Hellcat, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW M5, Mustang Shelby GT500, Porsche Panamera.
