Mercedes-Benz 300SDL my first OM606 swap. The W126 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL is an amazing S class with very beautiful design! The interior is also very beautiful and comfortable! The original engine that came in this car was a OM603 turbo. Great engine capable of decent power but it got ruined before we could do the right mods to keep it alive. We blew the headgasket multiple times and then finally the engine hydrolocked and bend multiple rods. So time for a new engine so Daniel said screw these engines I'm going with a OM606! He purchased a 1998 Mercedes-Benz E300 turbodiesel and pulled out the engine and put it right into the 300SDL. The swap was a huge success, the new engine loved the BorgWarner S257 and a 7.5mm injection from BenzForce.com, making huge power and blowing everyone away with its performance! But since even the original OM603 there was ine problem! The stock transmission! It was terrible! The 722.3 is a reliable long lasting transmissions with stock power but with the big Horsepower from the 7.5mm injection pump and the S257sxe is was no match! So finally after the car being sold to a friend for over a year we came to swap the transmission with a much more capable one. The 722.6 that was originally behind the OM606 is a good option. After the install with the OF gear controller we took it for a test drive and WOW what a ripper! That car is nuts! Mega power! Super fun, and now it has a transmission the works and has a locking converter. The transmission controler still needs to be adjusted to get the transmission to run great and how the owner is going to use it. So far the transmission swap is totally worth it!
