The OM606 can produce alot of power but what good does that do if you cant put it to the ground. We started off with a manual transmission a Mercedes 716 6speed from a c230 compressor, it bolts right up to a OM606/OM603. Original plan was to use a 4l80e Transmission with a full manual Valvebody but is currently out of our budget. We got a Mercedes 5 speed automatic from a e300 that we pulled a turbo OM606 from. Some say the original 722.6 from the E300 is not that good so we got a good deal on a 722.6 from a SL55-AMG. The AMG transmission does not bolt directly to the OM606 but the bell housing is easily swapped over from the original transmission that came behind the OM606. After getting the AMG transmission bolted to our Dragcar we connect the OF gear controller, a standalone computer to control the 722.6. At first we were a bit concerned about all the wiring but once we looked into it, its actually quite simple. First you'll need a throttle position sensor from a w210 E320. Then just contact the plugs according to instructions. The install went great we set up the computer and went for a test drive. Test drive went great the paddle shifters worked very well and transmission shifted very quick firm shifts. Time to take this car to the track and see what times it can lay down!
