Behold the Mercedes-AMG GT R – famously dubbed the Beast of the Green Hell – a track-focused supercar engineered to dominate the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, where it set blistering lap times under the guidance of AMG's development drivers. Launched in 2016 and produced until 2021, this front-mid engined monster is powered by a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 (M178) producing 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, mated to a lightning-fast 7-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power exclusively to the rear wheels.
The GT R takes the already impressive AMG GT S and transforms it into a pure performance weapon with extensive aerodynamic upgrades: an aggressive fixed rear wing, active aero elements including a carbon fiber underbody diffuser and adjustable front splitter, massive air intakes, wider fenders, and lightweight forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Carbon fiber components, titanium exhaust, and reduced weight (down to around 1,554 kg) contribute to its ferocious 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 318 km/h (198 mph).
Handling is sharpened by rear-wheel steering, adjustable coilover suspension with nine-way damping, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and massive carbon-ceramic brakes. The iconic AMG green "Hell Green Magno" paint became its signature color, complemented by aggressive styling and a roaring exhaust note that echoes through canyons and circuits. Inside, the driver-focused cockpit features deeply bolstered bucket seats, Alcantara, carbon trim, and AMG-specific instrumentation.
Later joined by the even more extreme GT R Pro variant with enhanced aero and suspension tuning, the Mercedes-AMG GT R remains one of the most raw, engaging, and intimidating driver's cars ever built – a true Nürburgring-honed beast that blends road usability with track supremacy
