Replacing the M178 LS2-powered GT Black Series, of which approximately 1,700 units were produced, the all-new GT Black Series is more than a development of the GT PRO 4MATIC+ track-oriented grade. In a recent video teaser of it and the all-new GT3 racing car, Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Affalterbach Racing GmbH refer to the newcomers as the X192. By comparison, the internal codename used by Merc for the second-generation GT Coupe is C192.
