The Mercedes-AMG GT is a high-performance sports car developed by Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, AMG, and was first introduced in 2015 as a direct competitor to the Porsche 911. It features a front mid-engine layout with a rear-wheel-drive configuration, giving it excellent balance and driving dynamics. At its heart is the handcrafted 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing power outputs that range from around 469 horsepower in the base model to an incredible 720 horsepower in the track-focused GT Black Series. The car is available in several body styles, including a two-door coupe, a roadster, and a more practical four-door coupe variant introduced in 2018, which retains the AMG GT name but is built on a different platform and includes all-wheel drive in higher trims. Throughout its lineup, the GT offers razor-sharp handling, blistering acceleration, and a characteristically aggressive exhaust note that showcases the raw power under the hood. Variants like the AMG GT S, GT C, GT R, and GT R Pro ramp up the performance and include enhancements such as adaptive suspension, active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and wider tracks. The GT Black Series is the pinnacle of the range, boasting extreme aerodynamics, a flat-plane crank V8 engine, and Nürburgring-worthy handling. Meanwhile, the GT 4-Door models, including the GT 53 and GT 63 S, provide more comfort and usability for daily driving while still delivering supercar-level performance, especially in the GT 63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid that produces a staggering 831 horsepower. Inside, the GT features a luxurious yet sporty cabin with high-end materials, performance-oriented digital displays, and Mercedes' advanced infotainment systems. While the AMG GT is known for its dynamic prowess and stunning looks, it can be a bit harsh for daily commuting in its sportier forms, and its two-door versions offer limited cargo space. However, it remains one of the most striking and capable grand tourers on the market, blending aggressive styling, superb engineering, and AMG's motorsport pedigree into a singular driving experience.
